Each year, the Poodle Club of America National Specialty brings together exhibitors, breeders, and enthusiasts from all corners of life, united by a shared passion for the Poodle. It is, at its best, a celebration—of dedication, of preservation, and of the extraordinary dogs that represent the culmination of generations of thoughtful breeding and care.

Yet gatherings of this magnitude, particularly those shaped by competition, can also carry an undercurrent that is less visible. The pursuit of excellence is often intense. Long memories, past disappointments, and unresolved tensions can linger, sometimes creating an environment that feels at odds with the very ideals we aim to uphold.

My entry and the Toy Poodles at PCA were absolutely beautiful. The Toy dogs on the first day were of very high quality. My ultimate winner was dog: Parfait Por Favor. A lovely black dog in top form—super sound and very typey. He was pushed by a very nice silver puppy, Karalots Rock and Roll; lovely head and eye and a very nice show dog.

IN MEMORY OF Barbara Furbush BEVANTON MINIATURE POODLES

All of us will remember Barbara or all she did for the people in her life. Barbara was a founding member of the Salisbury Kennel Club. She was also the Salisbury Kennel Club AKC Delegate for 25 years as well as the President of the club for several terms. She also served as their show chairperson for many years. The Salisbury Kennel club awarded the AKC Outstanding Sportsmanship Award to Barbara and her husband Jack in 2010.

Poodles were a passion of hers for many years. She began with white miniatures and soon upon meeting Annie Clark her visions went to black and brown miniatures. Barbara bred close to 50 AKC titled Champions, including some she co bred with Annie. Ch. Surrey Spice Girl was one of the highlights to Barbara’s years in Poodles going Best in Show at Westminster Kennel club in 2002, shown by Kaz Hosaka, co-bred with Kaz, Barbara and Annie Clark.

When did you first become aware of dog shows and the purebred dog world?

KARIN: My parents started showing and breeding dogs in the late 1960’s. My parents divorced in the late 1970’s but my dad continued to show and breed a little bit. My mom then stopped breeding all together until the early 1990’s and at that time I started showing and breeding Poodles with her.

NAZREP PUGS & DOBERMANS CAPRICE TOY POODLES

Diana Gardner passed away April 3, 2026. Diana and her sister Lucille Perzan cobred and showed Pugs and Dobermans under the Nazrep prefix, they also bred and showed toy Poodles under the prefix Caprice for many years. Diana was a groomer by profession. She was a past member of The Yankee Pug Dog Club, The Poodle Club of America and a member of the Quinnipiac Poodle Club. Diana served on the Board of QPC for many years and was President of the club for two terms.
